Laws that reference it
- California SB 243 — mandates self-harm protocols with crisis referral for companion chatbots.
- New York GBL Article 47 — requires AI disclosure and self-harm crisis-referral duties.
- US KIDS Act / SAFE Bots Act (H.R. 7757) — passed the House 267–117 on 2026-06-29; pending Senate, not yet law.
